Celebrating 15 years of fostering entrepreneurship: The success of the Erasmus program for young entrepreneurs

The European Commission is proudly marking the 15th anniversary of the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs (EYE) programme, a landmark initiative designed to shape the future of entrepreneurship across Europe. EYE is fostering international cooperation, enriching entrepreneurial skills and fostering innovation.

NOA, in the role of Intermediary Organization (IO) is pleased to be a partner for Albania in this initiative.

This program offers young and potential entrepreneurs a unique opportunity for international exchanges designed to turn their innovative ideas into business. EYE is a program which not only helps to overcome the initial hurdles of starting and running a business, but also facilitates the internationalization of SMEs and business partnerships. Participants gain invaluable on-the-job training and develop their entrepreneurial skills through collaboration with a host entrepreneur with experience abroad, lasting from 1 to 6 months. To ensure access to this programme, the EU provides financial support to help cover travel and living expenses while abroad.

Experienced host entrepreneurs benefit from the new perspectives and skills brought by young and motivated entrepreneurs. This collaboration opens the doors to explore innovative ideas that can grow their businesses, enabling internationalization, access to new markets and the formation of new partnerships, further increasing their competitive advantage.

To date, the program has created nearly 12,000 business exchanges in over 45 countries. The year 2023 marked a historic high with over 5,000 applications, demonstrating the tremendous success of this program. The EYE program has a high approval rating, with 98% of young entrepreneurs recommending it and 92% of participants keeping in touch after their exchange.
This program is supported and facilitated by a wide range of intermediary organizations across Europe and beyond.

The European Commission remains committed to improving the EYE program in the future, ensuring that it continues to support emerging entrepreneurs and contribute to a resilient and innovative European business ecosystem. Aspiring entrepreneurs and experienced business owners are invited to join this community and become part of the EYE success story.
